An empty list is useful information
No results usually means that two clues conflict, a repeated letter was counted incorrectly or an uncertain fragment was treated as fixed. The finder has not failed. It has shown that the current clue set cannot describe a word in the list.
Remove the weakest clue first
Keep the word length and confirmed positions. Remove a guessed beginning, ending or excluded letter before changing a clue supplied directly by the puzzle.
Search again after each change. The first restored result tells you which clue needs another look.
Know when the dictionary may differ
Word games use different accepted lists. If every clue is certain and no result appears, check the game dictionary or spelling. A valid word may still be absent from the broad list used by this site, and an uncommon result may be rejected by a particular game.
